The tines of the three way harrow protrude more if pulled in one direction creating a vigorous, deeper penetration for an aggressive application. When the tow bar is changed to the other end of the chain harrow and the tines protrude less, you get less penetration which lends itself to a much smoother operation, creating a passive application.

We changed all to s tines and it works great now. Not because of the s tines but we have the correct shanks on. If anyone needs c shanks I have 30 some with the brackets.
